February 17, 2014

Oops...once again I forgot to post Carson's letters this week.  It's been kind of crazy here.  We just got home from a clogging competition in Boise, Idaho on Sunday night then had a great Family Day holiday with Ken and the girls.  The next three days...I worked nights and then it's been steady basketball games every night.  So here we are now!  Can't wait till school starts again this week and I get the house back to myself!!!

     Anyway...here's Carson...

wow...that sounds like a lot of fun.  For us this week was a interesting one.  to start it off.  I'll just say i'm ok you don't need to worry any more.  but the start of the week we had comp. exchange and i had to go to his area.  So as we where going i almost got hit by a car and he got clipped while the guy was just going so he kind of just nugged him.  but he was ok.  and then continued are safari and you'd that would have been the worse thing oh no... i don't know what i was doing but i was holding 20'000 tsh in my hand getting ready to pay the guy to take us to Mbezi. but i only needed 10'000 so i was trying to put the other one away.  and then this black arm came in and took my ten and then ran off.  So ya kind of scary but i learned my lesson.  I'm ok you don't need to worry but i'm ok.

Sorry but after that the week has flown and it got better so don't worry.  Actual stop worrying i'm fine and nothing else has happened this week.  We got 4 guys from kenya because of visa but none from SA but we can be getting a bunch at any time so pres. is keeping us up to date and we are preparing our selfs for the flood gates to open up.  But other than nothing really is happening.  Elder Dimingu not really we mostly eat out and that is where he amazes us.  Me and elder O are like ya chips bass or chips Mayia but Dimingu was like 2chips and chicken.  Then one of the new missionaries is huge and very prideful and he apparently eats a lot and we fed them last day.  and ya he says he can drink about 7-10 sodas in a week and everybody looked at me and said he can take you... ya sorry but in the mission there is this rumour that i'm very very addicted to Mountain Dew and another soda that i'll not tell you the name to Kwa sababu you and grandma will tan my hide as you guys would say.  I can't remember what else you wrote me so one second.

Hey Carson...love hearing from you.  Sorry to hear your addicted to soda.  That's probably my fault for my bad example.  But I only drink the Mtn Dew or caffeinated ones when I'm working nights.  I had to so I could stay awake!  But I guess that's just trying to justify it.  Oh well.  I guess there are worse things.  Maybe just try to cut back a little on them.  Can't wait to hear more from you.  do you think you'll ever get to go into Kenya?

No probably not but there is still 18 months until home time so unless they want in Kenya I'll probably stay in Dar.

Anything else exciting there?  If you have new transfers that moved in...do you still have the ZL with you?  Will he stay much longer?  How's the whole preparing to train and lead thing going?

No the Zl is going home this transfer so that is why we think we are in a 3 because he is training the new ZL YIKES!!! when pres means leadership he means leadership.

YIKES YIKES YIKES were is missionary ken i could use some good advice on how to train and how to handle leadership... oh and how to learn a language.  but pres is counseling and realistically we might not even get new kids so ya.  Cross your fingures though,

When is the next transfer?  I don't think you should worry too much about how to train or how to lead...that will just happen when it happens.  Of course...I've not been on a mission, but some of the callings I've had make you learn that you can't really prepare for anything...you just lean on the Lord and he somehow gets you through it.  Dad would probably say something more meaningful and relevant, but he's asleep and snoring right beside me at the moment or I would ask him.  But the language thing is a little different...but then again...maybe not.  He will get you through this.  And I bet you're better at it than you think.  Give it a little more time and you'll get there.  I have all my fingers and toes crossed for you and I'll be on my knees praying for you too??  (In case the finger crossing thing doesn't work...hahaha)

2 weeks.  ya i guess that would be the way to do it.  But i don't know whats up with Pres.  He was here 4 weeks ago for District conference then just barely for interviews and now in 2 weeks he'll be back for Zone conference.  I think i'll ask him if he forgot anything since the last time he was here.

Holy crap Carson!!! I must be half asleep!  I just looked back and read the first part of your letter!!!  I must have missed that part about getting clipped by a car and getting mugged!  WHAT!!! I would have been going crazy!!!  Did you run down that guy who stole from you?  You could take him down and then teach him the gospel at the same time!!!  Please try to be safe over there.  So you didn't get hurt by the car right?

NO IT WASN'T A MUGGING JUST A ROBBERY AND NO I DIDN'T RUN HIM DOWN.  AND YES WE ARE OK AND WE'LL TRY NOT TO GET THAT STUFF HAPPENING TO USE.  SAWA...oops forgot caps where on sorry.

OK...you don't have to yell at me!!  :)  Dad just woke up.  He's all stiff and sore from taking Kaylee skidooing on Saturday.  He says he's excited for your opportunity to learn and lead.  He says the ZL is not a hard job...it just happens.  But he's excited that you'll get to train and says just remember to treat others like you would want to be treated.

sawa  Lakini i accidentally hit caps so i'm not yelling at you

Ya ZL fun. sawa i think we'll got get more money some time next week or next one after that.  But it's all good.  Hows it back home.

Dad just told me to say this to you...."I think training is the most important calling on the mission...bar none.  Because you'll be the one that starts that missionary off on the right foot and set them up for the rest of their mission.  It also encourages you to put into practice everything you've learned over the last six months.  But overall, for the mission president to let you be a trainer, shows the faith he has in you as a missionary.  Overall, I think you'll do very well and the Lord will bless you as you continue to grow and develop on your mission."

Wow that missionary Ken gives pretty good advice doesn't he?  Of course, he's had time to go to the kitchen and eat a cookie.  Now he's contemplating about how he's going to get on the treadmill today.  Ha Ha

YA that sounds good.  Haha got to justify eating that cook now.  He really wants to surprise me when i go home.  Tell don't get to excited about exercising or else i might not recognize you in 2 years.

Dad says "oh @#% you don't have to worry about me getting that skinny!  The reason I can't get on the treadmill is because I can't walk right now"  Did I mention he went sledding with Kaylee?  They got stuck a bunch of times and so Dad is feeling pretty sore right now.  No...I'm not smiling.  But it is kind of funny!!

Yes he mentioned that and i don't seem to get a vision of you and kaylee walking down a mountain.  but that was probably good enough exercise for a while i would say.

I think so too!!!
So what else do you do today?  Any other big plans besides emailing everybody?

Well we spent all day cleaning the flatt. washed some laundry ate some food.  come email and now prepare to eat more food other than that not much.

Sounds like fun.  Are your shirts coming out white again?  Did you ever find any blueing like that guy suggested?

So there's a reason why Grandma and I get after Grandpa about drinking all that diet pepsi...it's not good for you.  The diet drinks have aspartame in them that is very hard on your body.  And then if you are drinking pop everyday...the carbonation has been shown to actually leech the calcium out of your bones.  So you end up running a risk of brittle bones when you get older.  All I'm saying is...have a Mtn Dew ONCE IN A WHILE but maybe try to cut back on it.  Water is so much better for you.  But...good luck with that.  You don't want to put yourself in a situation where you are addicted to anything.

Ok...done the lecture...carry on.

Ya they are alittle bit.  No

Um you found that out really fast but take the diest off they do't have any of that here.

All the elders are laughing right now and saying ya right.  But i got your package with all of that juice mix so ya now i have any excuse now.  But ya i got 3 of your packages M+M and other pringles can. it was awesome Thank you so much.  The Hot Rods i really enjoyed.  Thanks again.

Yah!  I'm so glad you got them.  Did they cost anything to pick those up?

I don't know the elder who gave them to me said i had to pay him.  But he never said how much and it said nothing on the cans so i imagine they were free.

Well, hopefully that is true.  You don't want to be owing any one else.  I always feel a little bad about sending anything that someone else has to pay for.  It makes no sense to me that you have to pay to pick up the package.  I pay for it at the till so that should be good enough.

But it's good to know that you can get stuff over there.  The pringles cans don't hold much...but hopefully we can send you a few things from home.  Hope you enjoy them!  Let us know if you have any other requests that we can send to you.

ok-nut rolls and Root beer Aged vanilla :)

Please Thank you

Niomba Asante sona :)

Well, Grandma and the girls and I sent you something from Boise.  Yes...there were nut rolls in it and I did the best I could about the root beer.  I don't think I can send a can of that in a pringles container. But we also sent you a consecrated oil vial.  We were at the deseret bookstore and I remembered that you said the one you had was broken.  So I hope this one makes it to you and that it lasts a little longer than the last one.

Just think how good that root beer will taste after 24 months without.

ya but 18 now :))))))  but thank you soo much for the consecrated oil.  Beauty. now i won't have to care a big bottle of it any more but it will be okay.  Thank you
soooooooooooooooooooooooooo much Asante Asante Asante

That would be awkward to carry around a big bottle of oil.  So your welcome, your welcome, your welcome.   I don't know how to say that in swahili!!  Hope you like it all though!

Karibu Karibu sona...Asante Sona mona

Karibu sona Mzee Williams!  I love you and am very proud of you.  Hope you have a great week coming up.  The girls are off school this week.  I have to work three nights this week starting Tuesday (yuck) so I'm not sure what the girls will be doing while I'm trying to sleep.

Dad just asked me to ask you...what does a liter of gas cost over there?  Or a gallon?  or whatever.  He's curious about what it costs to drive a car over there.

pole sona na asante sona.  Sijui kwasababu we don't drive cars so ya... i'll look for you though.  and i'll ask about all of those swali sawa asante sona.

Sounds good!  Except I don't know what half that message says!  Hahaha!  But if we don't understand it...that must mean you're doing it right!!!

Any good missionary stories this week?  Besides getting robbed?  Any big goals or plans coming up this week?

not really just that we have alot of investagators and we are trying to get them ready for baptism and lots of them are potential but a few of them are maybe maybe not.  So this week we'll just have to see.  what about you guys any big plans besides work and school.

Ken's working all week...except for today...and he'll probably just want to try getting over being sore. I'll be working but the girls have no school.  So maybe Kaylee will have basketball practice, Taylor will be keeping the TV and heat register company, and Ashlee will be running frantically to all her play dates with all her many many friends.  oh...Taylor has a doctors appointment this week to.  So that's about it for us.

oh wow full week i guess.  It seems like ashlee is involved with just about everything... But overall it seems like just the same.  That is good hope your doing good, And have a good week.  so don't have much time left but love you lots and hope to write to you next week.

Love you lots

Carson

oh Carson...we love you too.  So much Thanks for your emails and for being such a great guy?  You're the best.  You have a good week too.  Good luck with all your investigators and lessons.  Hope you had a happy Valentine's day...well...then again...maybe hope you didn't have a valentine to distract you!!!  Have a great week.  We so look forward to your letters and pictures and stories.  Good luck not getting robbed again!  And NOT drinking pepsi or mtn dew!!!  Your stronger than the dew!!!  Resist!!!  Try some other flavor for a while!!  But love you lots and have fun working this week.  You'll be awesome!  We'll be thinking of you and praying for you and your companions for your safety!!!

Take care

Love you to the moon and back and then some more

Mom

sawa ok love you too.  Hope you have a good week

Love you farther than that

Carson

Here's Carson's letter to Ken.  He seems a bit fixated on the fact that Kaylee got her drivers license this week and is worried about her driving the big gray chevy truck.

Hey ya it is good. But i cringed alittle bit we i read kaylee is driving. Please what ever you do. Do not let her drive the chevy, and even for that matter keep her away from the car. Just let her drive the nice and safe and good lucking Van. ya that is a good idea. But like you say she is going to have to learn one way or the other that money doesn't grow on trees. But it will be interesting to read about. But other than that you have the house all to yourself Kaylee's off doing her own things, just chill watch some hockey and... oh wait... you don't have satellite... well mom is not home so i guess you could make a trip to best buy and buy one. but hey i'm half way around the world why would i care??? I really don't care but... we all want to watch hockey and other wonderful sports... That is a good idea... All i got over here is England soccer league. It is interesting but were not aloud to watch. but you'll here them... OOOOOOOOHHHHH!!! and the celebration... YEEEESSSSS!!!!
but good luck with the family and with kaylee. but please again don't let her get into the truck
PPPPPLLLLEEEASSSE!! That is the one thing that i really want to see right now.
Even better would be a pic. of her sitting in the garage where she belongs until i get home. :)
Good to read your letter hope your doing good.
Napenda sona wewe
