It's funny how a person can be in the depths of misery one moment and one little letter can make the heart leap into the heights of JOY!!! Such an unexpected but welcome surprise this morning. We got a letter from Carson!!! (Sometimes his grammar and spelling make it a little hard to understand...but who cares!!! It's a letter from my Carson!!!)

Hi you guys!!
it's so good to hear from you guys. I just got to Kenya and they just assigned me to the coast of Tanzinia. das es saleem. we met with the Mission president and his wife. It was a lot of fun. but then made us guess where we were going to go. so i walked up i just asked where is it the hottest. and that of course is where i am going to serve. Also it is right by the coast so it is not only hot but also very Humid. YAAAAHHH :(
Anyway. Elder Much is from Zimbobwae and is going to serve there. Hey but it was fun and the food was all over the place. we had some pizza, potatoes, slasha, etc. it was very good. Also the shots that we got where all boaster shots and i asked the nurse about the Hep A and she looked at me laughed and stabbed me in the arm with the hep A vaccination and then 2 others then said she you later. I didn't argue but it kind was a weird experience.
But it is good to hear from you guys and how you are doing. am all ways thinking about you guys and no i don't need anything as of right now but in a few weeks it might change.
Dad you wouldn't believe the Traffic lights here. It is very weird and you think they are bad in Lethbridge. We got here at 3. and we got here around 8 and it was wall to wall traffic and a few times i thought we were going to get in a wreck. because in Canada you are all about being nice. Here not so much. but anyways it is a lot of fun here. Hear from you guys soon.
Elder Carson Williams
So after I finished reading Carson's letter, (ok...I read it and then reread it about 4 or 5 times first) I also noticed there was another letter in the inbox from the Kenya Mission Home.

Dear Family of Elder Carson Ty Williams,
Attached please find a letter from President Hicken and a picture that was taken today in the Kenya Nairobi Mission office. We want you to know that Elder Williams arrived safely and is doing great. Thank you for raising such a great young man. We look forward to working with him.
Best Wishes,
Sister Olsen
Mission Secretary
The letter from the Mission President won't cut and copy so I'll type out a portion of what they sent to us. The picture is of Carson standing in between President Hicken and his wife. Maybe when Ashlee gets home today she can help me put his picture on here.

Family of Elder Carson Ty Williams,
Dear Family,
We have welcomed Elder Carson Ty Williams who has arrived safely in the Kenya Nairobi Mission. He is a choice young man and eager to be an excellent missionary. I was very pleased to note the preparation, worthiness and commitment of your son to be obedient and to serve the Lord honorably This is the first generation of church membership for the people in this mission, in the huge and diverse continent of Africa, and I know that as he serves the people, he will learn to love them, and they will love him. His testimony is strong, and I am honored to have him serve in our mission.
Elder Williams is laboring in the Dar Es Salaam Zone with an excellent trainer, Elder Sibanda. Sister Hicken and I will see him at least ever four to six weeks at Zone Conference and I will have an interview him on those occasions. Excellent doctors and medical care are available here, if health problems occur. We pledge to take good care of your son. This is a great mission and we know he will be successful.
Mail to your son should be addressed to the Kenya Nairobi Mission, P.O Box 46162-00100, Upper Hill Road Next To Citigroup, Nairobi, Kenya. I will encourage him to write home every week, but mail is slow, so be patient. The Missionary Department has authorized e-mail to the family once a week, if it is available to you. We are grateful for this added blessing. Telephone contacts and personal visits to missionaries by friends and relatives are inappropriate and contrary to long standing Church Policy. Full-time missionaries have made a commitment to devote their full time and attention to proclaiming the Gospel, and any such contacts during the time they are serving detracts from their effectiveness. However, we do urge you to write to him weekly.
Thank you for teaching, nurturing and sending forth this fine young man, anxious to serve the Lord and to honor his family and other loved ones. May the Lord bless you with peace and assurance that all is in his hands.
Yours sincerely
President Gary Hicken

Such a great morning! Here's a map of Kenya and Tanzania to show his mission boundaries and where he will be serving.

Dar es Salaam is Tanzania's largest and richest city and an economic hub in East Africa. Its name means "haven of peace" and it is known for its picturesque harbour, beautiful beaches and historical buildings. The population is 4,364,541 as of 2012.
