December 9/2013

Here is Carson's email. (I'm a little late posting it because of a few night shifts lately!)  I had asked him in my letter this week if he thought we should send him some beef jerky, (since he seems sort of fixated on it) and then I requested he buy his own Christmas tree ornament this year. (Something of a tradition here that each kid receives their own tree ornament Christmas morning.)  I was hoping he'd get something kind of "African".

I don't know but the problem would be if it isn't refrigerated wouldn't it go bad. i don't know you guys figure it out. I don't know exactly where i could get a christmas ornament but i will see what i can do. sounds like you guys are exp. some of the freezing tundra, so well don't think of me to much i think i'm getting a sun burn. :) hey it sounds like you guys are doing good. me it was a long week but it was alot of fun. Got sick for a few days. i'll give you the details of that exp at a latter data. but ya pres came interviewed all of us and i was the first. He showed up walked in the church had a look around then said, "Elder Williams will you come with me." so ya just kind of asked about email. who, and what. then we talked about companionship and unity. it was a very good talk. Then we went and the next day had zone conference. were we just did a bunch of training and sis. and pres spoke to us. it was very good and alot of fun. we also that night had some missionaries from Arusha in our Flatt it was ok but they wanted to go to all of these places. So we let them then one got a way from the other than we had to go and find him. around 9 we did. then we went and they left again to go to shop rite. then we left made food. It was very good until they asked if they could have some of my mountain Dew...
um no... do you want your hand cut off... but they eventually left and everything is back to normal now. Somewhat.
So hope you guys are doing good. and Having lots of fun. I'm going to send some pic now so
Talk to you soon. :)

What??? You got sick again? Just like your dad I guess. Hope you're ok. Maybe I should send you some chicken soup! And more vegetables!!!
Sounds like you had a good talk with the President. Would love to hear more...did he give you any advice that will help you out?
What about your packages? Kaylee said you got one from the young women's and another one. What one did you get?
Where's Arusha? And why did they get away? Where were they going.
Looking forward to the picture
Love you

Here are the pictures he sent...

Yes it sucked ALOT!! no we actually have soup here. so it is ok. we just had a quick talk. read some scriptures. and also he talked alot about me being a police officer in his regemite and how he would tell me what my job was. (he liked the scriptures to me and his work.) it was very good. just Janae and the yw packages that was it. yw had jesus stickers all over it and i didn't have to pay for it. but Janae's was 10. so jesus pictures probable would be good to.
Arusha is somewhere in Tanzania near Dar??? one wanted to go and do some sight seeing while the other wanted to come with us and the sisters to the knechts. they went back to arusha.

YA that is me, Brown, Ojjogolo, Carren Charles, And sister Brenda Kapinga. Carrens Aunt.

(Remind me to ask him next week if he wears that Leatherman on his belt all the time...and why!)
So does that mean you're going to be a police officer when you get home...or you are being like a police officer now in the mission field?
That's so exciting that you got Janae's package. I think we put in some root beer gum in that one for you too. Hope you liked it. And the other two packages I sent, I also put lots of Jesus and Mary stickers on it. In fact, I was the one who gave those stickers to Carol to use. So you might miss the Halloween package...but maybe...one day...that other Christmas one will show up.

That is kind of what he used as a object lesson. i have no desire to be a cop. I want to be like ken not against. Heck i don't care.

Keep being the best mom every and hopeful people will be happy. Thanks again love you lots.

Love you too. Have a great week. Let us know next week if we can start planning on our Christmas call from you. Love you!!!

So! How is our favourite missionary in the whole world doing this week? We have reversed your temperature this week … I'd rather have your temps thanks!~ -34 is just too-o-o-o cold!. you are right, Grandpa's knee is coming… it is just going to take time… You know the saying… Please Heavenly Father, give me patience. But please hurry!!!
So is the Christmas hub bub as bad there as here? Is it as commercial Or are there more spiritual signs around like the nativity and Christian symbols? What is the dominate religion?
The brother of the missionary that was killed in Guatamala reported his mission today… pretty sad … only because the young man is missed, but I'm grateful we know he is ok and working hard in Heaven. They said they had read his journal and other notes made by Josh and it showed that he was determined to be obedient to all of the mission rules . Obedience brings blessings. They said he would read the Book of Mormon on his way to school and any down time he had . That reminds me of you when you always read some scripture before you went to sleep. You are an awesome example to the rest of us. Thanks for living your life in a way that makes it possible for you to serve the Lord this way . I love you bunches… I'm sending you a letter in the mail this week ..instructions for Christmas… Is Christmas a holiday in Tanzania?
Love you tons. It is great that even working hard you are still saying it is fun. Take care.
This is from Grandpa
Hi Carson: Been thinking' of ya. Hope you're doin' well. It seems when I sit down to write, I start to remember all the good times we shared while you were grown' up. I think of your determination to do a good job, whether back in' the quad in the shop , or usin' a pitchfork to clean the calving barn or driving the tractor to the pile. (Didn't have to worry about you because you were so obedient to my instructions.) I sure love you and those memories because I know you, I believe that you're determined to do your best out there, ( wish I could be with you) So I hope you're successful and happy as you work for the Lord.
The only thing I would like to hear from you after you walk 200 miles … rap 600 doors…. teach 20 discussions…  drop off 60 Books of Mormon… eat 102 spiders is this:
Grandpa, I'm happy and having fun.
Love you. May the Lord continue to bless you. See you in a while.

And this is Carson's reply...

Shikamo Mzee na Moma
That sounds awesome. Thanks you guys. Pole about the kid in Guatamala but he and his family will be blessed because of his sacrifice. Thanks Grandma/ Grandpa for the awesome letter really appreciate it. In Tanzania there isn't alot of christmas decoration or alot of christmas shoppers running around. maybe it's the start of the month but alot of people here are muslim so maybe that Christmas doesn't happen for them. i don't know.
Yup Grandpa thanks for that. it will help me alot especially since these last few days i have been sick. so ya even when i was sick i was still  grateful to be on mission and yup I'm very Happy and having lots of fun. Thank you. And also hopeful you guys are doing good. and also hopeful your knee is doing better, because when i come back i'm going to want to brush up on my Basketball skills so you better be ready. :)
Thanks again for all that you guys taught me. hard work-how to sew a button onto my pants. (I've need that skill a few times these last few weeks.)
Thanks again. Love you guys.
Carson
