Happy Birthday Grandma!
In my letter to Carson this week, I asked if he could give us a little more detail in some of his letters. I'm not sure if he really liked hearing that. Ken, Kaylee and I went to a Priest/Laurel Standard night last night and a lot of the questions that the youth asked were about serving a mission...."do you HAVE to go when you're 18, if I don't go does that mean I'm a bad person, what if I'm not really excited to go", etc... So we asked Carson what was his opinion on the whole matter...and if he thought it was better to go right out of high school or if he would have rather waited a bit. Here's his letter:
hmm ok well it sounds like a lot of fun is going on that side. A big mouse almost ate you thats great. sorry for that. (Oh yeah...I was laying on the floor reading a book, and a mouse attacked me! EWWWW!)
Well as for me everything is going great,
Well as for me everything is going great,
You want me to put into some detail about whats going on i ll be honest it has been the same thing for almost the last 2 years. Everything is basically the same. I wake up get ready and go teach people and then come home eat food and sleep. Then repeat for a week.
So i don't know what you want me to tell you. So
But as for this week
Mon. we had a activitly we played Basketball, soccer and ate goat meat.
Tues- we had a ztm and after that we went home and emailed but got kicked out because it was late
Wed- finshed emailing then we went and saw abunch of people
Thru- had a long day seeing people and just doing missionary work all over the place
Frid- same thing but we got bounced alot
Sat Same thing and we are preparing for a baptism on The 28 of Mar.
Sun- Church was asked to give a testimony on Tithing so got up and did my thing it went well. After that we went and saw a few people and then went home
Today we are in westlands hangout in Njuguna old area emailing so far. And later today we ll see a few people and then go back to Home
Transfer we this week No changes in Riruta so we ll be working together for another 6 weeks ya hoo.
Um ya for question and answer period. My interview went good all has been resolved... All is well now.
Um... as i go through mission there is somethings i really wish i had not done and some of those things probably wouldn't have happened if i would have been older and more mature. But then again i wouldn't have had the opportunity to learn and to grow as i have so i have no regrets of going when i did. But i guess it just depends on the person But for me i have no regrets.
Hey thanks hope all is going well at home love you lots
Carson
Hi Carson! So glad I finally get to chat with you again.
Yes a big mouse almost ate me. He was big and fat and gross! Yuck! Do you eat mice over there? Eww!
So about the details thing...I know YOU think it's the same ol thing...but I enjoy hearing about that. You said you go teach people...who do you teach. What are they like? What is their story....why are they interested in the church...or not? What are they struggling with? What lessons are you learning while you are teaching them?
What kind of things are you learning/teaching in your zone and district meetings? What is your companion like? What's his family like? What have you enjoyed doing this week and why and then what have you disliked and why? I could go on....but... I just like to hear what you are doing and learning and what is going on with you. You're so far away and I just like hearing about what you are thinking and going through.
What's goat meat like? Glad you had some time to do some fun stuff.
Good for you on the baptism. Who is being baptized? We got some pictures from the Bevan's recently in Mwanza still. They've had lots of baptisms recently. I enjoyed seeing their smiling faces. Would love to see your smiling face too!
How did you hear about your transfer already? I thought they didn't let you know about that till later tonight? Sounds good that you'll still be in Riruta. You must like that area. I guess Njuguna didn't get his visa to South Africa?
Love you Carson. We're just getting up to get ready for scripture study. we finished the BOM last week and are trying to figure out what to start this week. Any suggestions?
Well they are all the same if you wanted me to tell you i should have brought the area book and i can tell you alll about them.

Sounds awesome. Thanks for the details!!! You're so funny!

Oh well. There's always next week.
So tell me about your upcoming baptism. Who's getting baptized? How old are they? Are you excited about it?
When you say it's getting cold over there....how cold is cold to you?
That's nice that you still have the same companion. Is he getting excited to go to SA? How is he to work with?
Did you get any packages from us recently? Did you ever get your birthday ones?
Well a bunch of people we have been teaching. Felous Maimuna, Cythina

Over here like 20
By now he really doesn't care. he is crazy but alot of fun.
Nope not yet
I saw pictures from the Bevan's today. They wrote that Elder Marble has "died" in Mwanza...so he's going home. Did you ever work with him? It also looks like Elder Steed is in the area too. Think you'll ever go back into TZ? Would you want to? What has been your favourite area so far?
Ya i was with him alittle bit he was my Zone leader in Lucky summer
nope probably not
nope probably not
I like Dar and Riruta
Do you have an apartment that you stay in or is it a house? How many elders live in it at one time?
Any big plans for the upcoming week?
Oh...and remember to wish Gma a happy birthday cause today is her birthday! She's working really hard lately to get ready for her adventure in Peru. She's been hiking up a storm! Maybe you and she can go back to Africa next year and you can hike Kilimanjaro! Yikes!
YA it is an apartment. Just me and elder njuguna
Not really we will have to see
Not really we will have to see
hmm maybe apparently that takes like 5 days.
How many floors up are you in your apartment?
Well this Peru thing will take about 9 days of actual hiking. They leave on the 27th then they spend a few days in Peru getting used to the climate before they actually start climbing. She's starting to get a little nervous I think. But it will be a great adventure!
Well, I've got to go make sure the girls are ready for the bus. Anything else happening that you want to share?
um like 5 or 6 really wow that sounds like any adventure.
um good luck at school and have fun
