April 20, 2015

Oops...a little late getting these last letters posted!

Hey mom
Hey sounds like lots of fun that side. Sorry about that.
Well as for me not much is going on. We had those Few baptisms this last week and we are working for 2 more this week Neelah and Zereshi. 2 females Neelah a little girl who know alot about the gospel. and Zereshi is from burundi and has been investigating the church so now she wants to be baptized which is great.
WE watched conference the other day and it was awesome. We were only able to watch the sunday season but we have the dvd so well watch the other sessions.
I was aw struck when i heard people Shout I OPPOSE> hey that mzee utchdorf started to turn red i totally thought fire was going to come. but than it was over, Wow wow wow i could not believe that one.
But i really liked Jeffery R hollands talk and i liked uchtdorfs talk they were really nice even the presiding bishop he shared a story about the sister serving in Africa met three men who had walked along way to come to church, I think that was Sister Knecht and i know these men. But i m not sure though./ Hey when he talked about this Hey williams was pirked up and listening kabisa kabisa.
Really interesting i really enjoyed.
But ya thats it for this week. REally looking forward to that day to mom hope to hear from you guys to.
Hope you have a good week love you lots
Carson

Wow Carson!  That's  pretty awesome about those girls wanting to be baptized.  I bet it's an amazing thing to be able to watch the gospel change peoples lives.

I agree about the opposition in conference.  I didn't think he looked so mad as maybe more disappointment.  I know I was pretty hurt about it.  They only opposed the first presidency and the 12 apostles.  I felt it was just a show they put on because who really goes to conference to oppose.  I loved Uchtdorf's reply of....they can go to their stake leaders to deal with their complaints.  Anyway...

So do you ever know if the people you baptize stay active?  I was wondering what the retention of the converts would be.  Would you know about any of that?

Well overall most of the people that i have baptised i keep intouch iva Facebook and email kidogo but ya there are some that have some how gone really sad but i m not in the area anymore so what can i do. most people i know have stuck around but i really am not sure completely

That is kind of sad...your right.  But from the sounds of the ward you are in...they all seem to be pretty excited to bring in referrals...so I bet they are pretty good about trying to keep the converts active.  I wonder.

CRAP!!!  I JUST BURNED THE PANCAKES!!!

Ok...I need to learn to focus on one thing at a time!

So what was the best thing/worst thing/funnest thing/most spiritual thing you did this week?

Did you get any packages?   Do you think it's to late to send one last package?

Hey sorry you of all people are probably one of the best people i know who can multi task Conference was the best thing.
Exchanges to westlands sucked.
Um A family wanted us to have a da at there place so i phoned them to see if we could meet they said that they wouldn't be around. BUT i phoned the wrong number so they phoned us around 6 and asked are we coming or not. Hey my comp was mad at me and we ran very fast to there place but we got there and had a good laugh.
Conference listening to the living prophet and apostles was awesome
Nope not any packages yet. YA made it would be just hang on to it and ill open it when i get back.

Wait...what?  You got exchanged to Westlands?  Where is that?   Is it transfer week this week?  Who is your new companion?  And how is the companion who had the tonsils?

Oooh....That's too bad about the wrong number.  But good thing they called you.

Ya just for the day my comp and his comp had to do interviews so thats what happen. Transfer next week ya hoo poop.
ya for sure hehe we got there an they were saying that if we didn't come then they were going to pack up the food and come to our place and make us eat all of it. (Which wouldn't have been a bad idea?)

Oh...I was thinking you didn't have transfers yet...and then I thought maybe I was lucky and it was happening sooner than I thought.  Oh well.  Who know Carson?  Maybe they'll put you in the office as an assistant?  Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaa!!!!   Dad never really liked that job.  He would have rather been out doing missionary work!

So any other plans for today?  What kind of groceries are you getting lately?  How's the money situation?  You ok?

hahaha good joke there mom ha ha ha
ya it doesn't look like a peach walk
nope we have a da today
ya some how i went to day and got some money out

What's a peach walk?   Whats a da?

So the girls have been asking me when they can put in their requests for what they want you to bring back from Africa?  (Please do NOT bring home a live zebra for Kaylee!!)  Let us know when would be the appropriate time to ask.  Thanks!  But we don't want to be pushy at all and then make you trunky.   Sorry.

Easy thing going down. Not a easy job...
DA dinner appointment

Ya now would be a very good idea. since i can have time to get everything so if you have any requests feel free right now.

So is a peach walk a good thing or a bad thing?

Good to know.  We'll start putting our lists together.  I just want to make sure you've got what you want.  Maybe some posters or pictures of places you've been over there so you can decorate your walls in your room or future home.  Something like that.

Do you ever see that Africarver over there?  I still have him on Facebook and everyonce in a while I see pres Hicken and his wife in some of the pictures.  He posted some baptism pictures and also some pics of the kids from the orphanage/school out swimming.  Have you ever met him or heard about him?

it is not a easy job. so me it is not something i want in my life.
ok i saw some postcards maybe i ll get a few off those and a map of kenya and Tanzania.
Not since coming over here. in Nairobi.
President Hicken ??????? on facebook
or do you mean bevans.

Get something that you can only get in Africa....carvings, or specific posters/pictures that are only available there.  I loved the apron that Elna brought me back from South Africa...it had guinea hens on it!  But...all I want from Africa is YOU!!!!

I'm sure I saw Pres Hicken on the Africarver site....Oh well...can't find it now.  But his name is Steven Kyalo.  He makes some awesome carvings.

Anyway...I'm probably keeping you too long.  Any other plans today?

And then he was gone.....

Here is Ken's letter....

Hey dad
Wow for sure it sounds like nothing has changed. hmmm oh well that sucks for that family.
but oh well sometimes that is how it is South africa is freaking out with all of the terrorism stuff so any body from east africa or a foreigner they aren't letting in.
so ya kind of a problem.
But for me i having no problems we watched conference this week and we will be having a baptism next week. it is great end a transfer on a baptism it will be great. Other than that we are still seeing people and walking around. But not much has changed.
Love you lots and hope you have a good week
Carson

Here is Grandma's letter.....

Oh well but ya i got to watch conference not all of it but some it was interesting. And i really enjoyed it Sunday morning season i really really enjoyed. Especially the talks by Jeffery R. Holland and Utchdorf
But other than that not much else is going on. We had a baptism last week and we are hoping for another two this week.
But ya love you lots and hope you have a good week
