Sawa means "OK"!

     So last week the internet was down in...well...wherever Carson emails from.  That meant no email for Mom last Monday.  (sad)  But he did find two minutes to mail us on the Tuesday! (happy!)  But that meant he only wrote two lines...and they were kind of pathetic too.  (sad)

     But today is a new day!  So here is his letter from today!!!

Hey that is awesome. and it is sawa. sawa so this last week has been ok. me and Elder Sibanda where just getting ready for him to leave and trying to meet with some people. But it is flu season over here so we do alot of setting appointments and walking but not a whole lot of teaching. But hey it's sawa and alot of fun. sawa grandpa's still having trouble with his knee i guess. That probably won't get better for awhile (That is if he stays off of it) but ya this has been a fast week not very much happened we ate out a few times and i paid for my comp because i has no money which was actually pretty funny. But ya when took him to the airport on sunday. Speaking of which we FINALLY watched conference on Sunday it was very good but it seemed like they were talking alot about women and to the women. and also what was up there lots of the women where more involved in conference like playing the piano and saying the prayers etc. all the missionaries here were like whhhaaattt????? Sounds like you guys are having alot of fun this last week with the weather and getting jerky I saw those pictures and the snow was fun but... the Jerky ones kind off through me under the bus. I just read the first part and i knew something was up. but ya we had transfer dinner on saturday. Pasta and beans i was very good. oh and also today we where at the senior couples place to learn how to cook it was alot of fun and we made brownies, cookies, muffins and... COWBOY COOKIES it was like the herald angles where singing. the only twist was we had to make it and there was another ingredient. 2 cups of Corn Flakes. They where very good and it was alot of fun, but that isn't all they told us alittle about this next transfer and they said we aren't going to get many missionaries this time because of visas. No americans and also 1 of the Canadians got held back, and so i don't know which one it was but i was really looking forward to seeing them oh well. it's just because the Kenya government is at a stand still and it is very hard to get a visa right now. but ya it will be interesting to see. anyhow hope you guys are doing good i'm staying with the other elders until my new comp comes but ya i'll try to get some pic to you next week. but hey it sounds like you guys are doing good.

Dear Carson,

Hello again...Just a quick question from your letter...what does it mean that when you ate out you paid for your comp but you had no money????

As for conference, not sure if you heard.  There was a big protest this year.  A bunch of female activists wanted to attend the priesthood session of conference.  They feel that they are ready to have more responsibility and want to be priesthood holders.  My thoughts...if saying that something is forbidden makes you want it...then I FORBID you to clean my house!!!  Anyway, the church was probably having more women involved as a way to kind of show that women are actually involved.  ????

What is a transfer dinner?  So glad that you got to make cowboy cookies.  That made me smile for you!!!  Did you have to put the corn flakes in the cookie mix?  That would have been allright


To Mom:
He had no money because he only got a half allatment. and i stilled had alittle bit so we tried out this burger place and it was very good. Interesting ya transfer dinners is just a dinner put on by the senior couple to celebrate the transfer it was alot of fun. got to hang out and eat food then we went to conference. o it made me smile too and she gave us the recipes so i will be trying them out some more. oo ya it was definetly alright. 

Dear Carson,

I'm wondering if the whole visa thing is because of that shooting in Nairobi Westgate mall last month.  Probably the government is a little leary about visas right now. 

While you are staying with the other elders...are you going to ask them about the whole christmas call home thing?  Sorry to keep harping on this but I just don't want to miss you because my computer isn't working.  Do they ever go to a family members house to skype?

Have you heard when your next zone conference is?  Do you fly back to Nairobi for that or do you just meet somewhere in Tanzania?  Does the mission president fly down to meet you for that too?   Hmmmm.....


To Mom:
i don't know but they just said the Kenya government is at a stand still. i don't know i will ask them about that i guess because i will be with them for the rest of week waiting for my comp. and the next zone conference is 2 week in December and i don't know about that either but i will ask them about it. ??? i don't know but i guess these are things i need to figure out.


Dear Carson,
I'm sure you'll figure lots of things out.  You're still just starting out.  But I guess I need to learn more patience.  Sorry about that.  Just excited I guess.  
Just read back to something else you wrote...pasta and beans...never thought I'd hear you say that was good.  And then to read that you have the recipes...I'm giggling a little!  You're too cute


To Mom:

And just like that...POOF!!!...he was gone!  But just to make a few things clear...we sent him a picture of what our weather was like yesterday...

And when he was talking about the jerky...well...I sent him a picture of this...

I'm not sure if he's feeling "thrown under the bus" because he misses eating jerky or if he's miffed because the meat we used is from the deer HE killed last year.  Oops...sorry!!!

The cowboy cookie part made me think about all those times he made cookies for me...

Awwwww.....
