We love Monday mornings! Here are some tidbits from Carson's letter this week. I had asked him to answer 10 questions this week in an effort to find out a little more details of what's going on over there...
ya my comp is trying to apply to some schools right now and we were doing anything so that is why i wrote to you guys.
well that all sounds like alot of fun.
1. Where are you living? Do you have an address to send a letter to you yet?
We live just across from the shop rite mall. and just down the road and first turn right and a few doors down.
2. What kind of flat do you live in? Is it like an apartment building? How high up are you?
no the flatte is just a small house nothing special.
3. What are the names of the other two missionaries that are in your flat? Where are they from?
We aren't staying with any other missionaries at our flatt. but every week we go to Elder Brown and his comp (Dont ask me to spell his name because it is very confusing.) and we stay at there flatt for church the next day. But Elder Brown is from Texas and his comp is from Uganda.
4. I heard from the other missionary moms that you won't be able to watch conference but just get a DVD copy later on. What are you doing for conference this weekend?
Ya we don't get to watch conference for another two weeks. anything interesting happen?
5. Do you do a lot of door-to-door tracting, or do you do fellowshipping?
Kind of both this last week we've done alot of tracking but also a few appointments.
6. When and where is your next zone conference?
i don't know they were telling me that zone conference is sometime next transfer.
7. What do you eat for breakfast? for lunch? for supper?
For Breakfast=Toast Lunch sometimes we eat out and sometimes we just skip. Supper Lots of Rice.
8. I heard about the figs...are they like the fig newton cookies we have here?
Um i don't now about the fig newton crackers but there just like apples but without the juice.
9. How about grocery shopping? Do they have any froot loops, peanut butter, taco chips or other goodies that you can get here in Canada? Any foods that you are really missing? What about cooking? Are you still making your companion cook for you?
No there isn't any fruit loops or taco chips or anything else from Canada. :( STEAK, oreos, Cereals, etc. let's just say i miss alot of the food ate home. Sometimes depends on the day. and ya somewhat i think i kind of got use to it so i don't drink it as much. me cook ha, ya he is still cooking but that is not all the time, we eat alot out and at other members house. Ask Dad if he knows anybody by Jeff Smith who works abroad for the states. which reminds me we been hearing about how the government shut down in the states how is the impact of that effecting you guys?
10. I heard that you get a tutor twice a week to help with the language. Has that happened for you yet?
Ya we have swahili class twice a week. and i will get back to you on that.
He commented on my hovercraft picture...
Um ok weird picture. don't know what to think about it right now...
I had forwarded an article on to him that I read on KSL about the church now allowing missionaries to use social media like facebook and twitter and asked if he had heard anything about that.
No i'm trying my hardest to stay away from facebook right now.
but on that note i think i will start right now. Thanks for that email.
Love to hear from you guys.
And i love you around the world and back again.
Elder williams
So after reading that tiny morsel...I had to ask some other "follow up" questions...
Hi Carson...so good to read your letter! If I look up the shop rite mall are you north/south/ etc... what direction is right?
i don't exactly know. don't have my compass on me. but there is a major high way and it is exactly across from it.
How did laundry go today? Still using that bucket?
ya Laundry is fun!! already had to fix some buttons on my pants oh boy was that fun.
Aren't you glad I taught you how to sew on a button before you left!!!
oh ya definetly but i kind of wished i had paid better attention because i kind of had to improvise at the start but overall it turned out ok.
How far away is your flat from the church meeting house? Like an hour or so?
like half an hour but the probable is it would take to long to get there from out flatt so we just stay at their flatt to get there on time.
Do they give you some kind of bottle to purify the water...do those koolaid things work?
Ya they have and i've used it a few times but it doesn't work every well. so all i've been doing is using the filtered water from the filters and using that water.
Who is Jeff Smith?
Jeff smith lives over here and he works for the US government that is all i know.
But he said that his mom grew up in magath.
i've been trying to send you pictures but it doesn't exactly work on these computors so. better lucky next time i guess.
Then out of the blue, he kind of changed the subject and wrote this...
Thanks dad really really appreciate it.
Write back soon.

????? Seriously? Out of all the pictures you could send me...you send me this? And then the next comment.....
ya i know right. everybody in the MTC was trying to beat it but it is clearly is just to massive. you just cant miss it. See you later.
And then all too quickly it was over...
Got to go love to hear from you guys Talk to you guys later.
So after reading his letter over again and trying to organize it so it all makes sense, I'm worried. First of all...I think I sound like some kind of interrogator trying to squeeze some kind of deep, dark government secrets out of him. Secondly...what makes him think that I want to see a picture of our flag? I mean I have as much pride in our country as the next person...but I think I've tried to make it clear in past emails that I would love to see a picture of him. So if anyone is actually reading this blog, does anyone have any suggestions as to if he will ever write me anything of substance? Will I always have to try to drag everything out of him? Is that normal?
On the upside, only 23 more months to go!!!
