January 26, 2014

This week was a bit rough.  Taylor had another diabetic seizure...but at school this time.  Good thing Ashlee was right across the hallway and was able to help with the "rescue".  It was so good to hear from Carson today.  Really needed a pick me up!

Hey mom

As for Microwaves only the sisters and the APS have microwaves.
In tanzania we had stoves but here in Kenya we don't all we have are little stove tops with two burners hooked to a gas tank. Lots of fun cooking with fire basically.

Hope you are there so we can chat kidogo love you lots

Hey Carson!  Been watching for you this morning.  Everybody's just getting up for scriptures.

Sorry there's no microwave.  I found a "cake in a mug" that I was going to send for you birthday but if you have no microwave...so much for that idea.

Sounds like you had a really busy week.  But it sounds like a great week too.

Are you hoping on getting transferred or are you hoping to stay there?

hey ya thanks but no microwaves this side so sorry.
no i want to stay i have moved to much these last few transfers i want to stay like in Dar 9 months would be great, get to know people and met new people and have great times with the members.

I wonder if you could go use someone else's microwave?  Hmm...I'll have to rethink things.

Right now I'm trying to reread the last few books of the Tennis shoes series so I can read the 12th book that just came out!

I hope you get to stay too.  It sounds like Riruta's a pretty nice place.

hmmm maybe but i don't think i could cook something with out everybody else saliving all over my back.
oh no how many books to i need to read before i can read that one. is that the last one of the series or what.

Any other big plans for the day?  How are your hands holding up with all the washing clothes in a bucket?

You have to start back at least to book 8.  Then at the end of this new book, #12, it says "to be continued".  Arrrgh!

Not really washing clothes today oh ya dang still got to do that today thanks for reminding me.
WHAT THERE IS ANOTHER BOOK. !@@#@$#$##%$%$#%#$^%^ oh no and when does that one come out. #@$%$^$%#$*)#$^#$

Not sure when the next book comes out.  I'm getting a little tired of the ongoing saga.  I know in the 11th book, it merged with the Zarahemla books and I'm so way confused with all the characters that are involved now.  But I would expect that the new one would come out the end of this year sometime.

Hey I saw some pictures on Facebook from the Bevans.  Looks like they've had a ton of baptisms back in Mwanza.  Have you seen the pics?  Do you recognize any of them?  I was thinking maybe you laid some groundwork on some of them and now they are getting baptized.  Good work!

Good luck with the wash today.  Hope your hands hold out.

nope i haven't yup thats me the sower.
Farming thats what i do.

Thanks eh really appreciate it.

You always were a good little farmer.  Just ask Grandpa...or Mehews.

Love you lots Carson.  Hope your week goes ok and that you have a good transfer next week.  I'll be thinking of you and praying for you.  I think you're awesome no matter what!

yup yup thanks mom love you
Good luck and hope this week is less stress ful for ya

Thank you.  Same back at you!

Love ya lots!  Take care of yourself!

Grandma just called me...she was gushing about what a sweet son I have.  (Yes, I know...but it's good to know that he's sweet to others too!)  And then she forwarded her letter from Carson on to me.  Awwww.  It was really nice.  I hope they don't mind me including parts of their letter to him too.  Thanks Mom and Dad.  Luv ya!  You two are a HUGE part of why he's turned out so good!  We couldn't have done it without you.  You are both such great examples to us and to our kids!  We love you lots and are so grateful for you!  Thank you!

Grandma:  So I have question for you... I hope it's not too private ... don't answer if it is... if you have time, want to  or you can write it in your journal and tell me when you see me... When was the first time you realized you had a testimony?

Hey grandma thanks for writing. As for me i m doing great. Um in response to your question i have given it some thought. and when i really really believed in the church was when we went to nauvoo it was so powerful and really a testimony builder. but also being on mission i have read so many things and heard and testified and now i understand. The gospel is the only way. And repentance is not a optional thing we need it to cleanse our lives and to return back to God and home.  Mission has been a great blessing in my life i thought i knew all about the gospel but it is like everytime i upon the scripture or books from the presidecy i learn something new that blows my mind away. But all is great the word is good. Hope you are doing well. Miss you all and love you lots
Carson

Grandpa:  It seems like I always ask you the same old questions ... However tonight I was wondering if ya figured that your mission has been successful. Do you still have the attitude and desire? I remember your resolve when ya left that nothing would keep you from doing' an honourable mission. Them young and strong shoulders ya gots could do lots more than lay a lickin' on Grandpa in basketball, football, sports etc. ( I hate to admit that !!!!!) I also know lots about being discouraged, so I hope that I can offer a little cheer. What you're doing takes a lot of courage... to invite others to change their lives and come unto Christ. I hope that you're lovin' every minute of your service to those people. Your life and understanding will be rewarded. The work you're doing is true. Your success can never be measured on the charts .... it is etched in your heart. I'm still looking after your other life back home... ya know the music, TV, videos, novels, and even the GIRLS ( I brag you up to all that will listen) There's nothing wrong with any of these things, Carson, but then again there's nothing wrong with food unless you're fasting. I guess I just want you to know how proud ya make me, and I'll always love ya. Grandpa

Hey mzee grandpa for sure i asked myself just two days ago. i even turned to my companion we where having a hard day and i wasn't feeling and i just said i don't know why i am here i see no progress and i see no success have these two years been for nothing. After that i went to play some basketball to clean my head and this guy came up and asked me what i was doing and etc. and we started to BRT and ya it was really nice and he said that he would like to come and learn more so. i guess that was some how a divine revelations or something like that, But it was so powerful and really nice. But mission has taught me so much i really understand why i came out. To serve others and to love them. It has been a struggle but it has been so worth it if you asked would i do anything different i would say no. Wouldn't change a thing learned to many value things to go back and to change anything. Love it here and looking forward to share with you what i have learned when i get back. Oh and Grandpa Thanks for everything really think about ya hope you are doing well and all practised up in Bball because i am coming to test you out. hope you are doing well good luck with the calving season. miss you lots
Carson

And then here is his letter to Ken.  Ok...I've run out of Kleenex and need to go find a new box.

Hey dad.
Ya These last few weeks have been way better than before i wasn't really feeling it before but this few weeks. i even asked my companion if what i was doing was any progressive or was really worthy it. Later that day i was playing basketball and this guy came and we started talking and he was really into athletics and would like to play to. so we played a little and then he just asked what i was doing here and there we went into alittle BRT session and we exchanged numbers and he said he ll be back some time next week to come and learn more about the church. So After that i was smiling pretty big. After this i actually feel like a missionary and everything has been just going great thus far. But looking back on mission i have seen the gospel change peoples lives and help them for the better and i was there helping them. it is great mission is powerful and i m really enjoying. Thanks for your advice and your guidance you give me. I ve read my patriachal blessing the other day and it reminds me to listen to you and mom you know these things and for sure i ll remember that and i know you ll always be there for me. So i don't think i ll be able to hit you with my truck when you turn 70. Sorry but i need you always. Thanks dad for everything you are a great example to me and i ll always look up to you. Your are my example. Thanks again Dad. Love you lots

Carson
